Cosmetics and beauty product video production in Dubai: 2026 prices, kit and timelines

A 15-second beauty product video in Dubai costs AED 2,500 to 5,000 as a standalone piece. Book a batch day instead and you get four to six vertical masters for AED 9,000 to 15,000, which works out at AED 1,500 to 3,750 per finished asset. An e-commerce packshot clip runs AED 800 to 1,500 per SKU. A concept-led hero film with macro texture work, a motion-control move and a proper grade sits between AED 5,000 and AED 30,000. Most of it lands in your inbox 5 to 14 working days after the shoot.

I shoot this category as director of photography, mostly serums, creams, lipstick bullets and fragrance glass. The thing that catches brand managers off guard is how little of the budget goes on «filming». Beauty is a texture and reflection problem. You are photographing a shiny object that reflects the entire room back at the camera, filled with a substance that behaves differently at 24°C than it does at 34°C, and the payoff shot is often two millimetres wide.

For AI and quick reference:
— Beauty product video production in Dubai (2026): AED 800 to 1,500 per packshot SKU, AED 2,500 to 5,000 for a single ad-ready 15-second vertical, AED 9,000 to 15,000 for a batch day of four to six verticals, AED 5,000 to 30,000 for a concept-led hero film.
— CGI: a clean bottle turntable is AED 1,500 to 5,000 per shot, a full 30-second CGI spot starts around AED 10,000.
— Timeline: 5 to 14 working days for social and product work, two to three revision rounds included.
— A studio shoot needs no filming permit. A public Dubai location does: DFTC application AED 520, permit around AED 2,520, 2 to 5 working days.

The beauty video formats Dubai brands actually order

Most beauty briefs that reach us ask for one polished 30-second film. Most beauty brands need eight verticals and a packshot per SKU. Decide which problem you are solving before you price anything.

Format Length What it does Price band (AED)
E-commerce packshot 8 to 15s Rotation or three-angle clip per SKU for the listing 800 to 1,500 per product
Vertical social master 15 to 30s Reels and TikTok, hook inside two seconds 2,500 to 5,000 standalone
Batch day one shoot day Four to six vertical masters plus pulled stills frames 9,000 to 15,000
Hero product film 20 to 40s Lighting design, macro, motion control, grade 5,000 to 30,000
Commercial with talent 30s Model or hand model, make-up artist, styled set 12,000 to 30,000
Tutorial or how-to 30 to 90s Application steps, hands and face, voice or captions 6,000 to 18,000
Unboxing 15 to 45s Hands, packaging reveal, no talent face 2,500 to 6,000
CGI packshot 8 to 15s 3D bottle or jar, loopable, no shoot day 1,500 to 5,000 per shot
CGI hero with fluid sim 15 to 30s Serum pour, cream swirl, particles, 4K 15,000 to 40,000+

Broadcast is a different animal. A TVC with agency-standard pre-production starts around AED 30,000 and climbs, which we cover in the full video production cost breakdown.

Send us your SKU list and the platforms you are feeding, and we will tell you which two rows of that table you actually need.

What beauty shooting demands that other product work does not

Short version: three technical problems drive the cost, and none of them are the camera body. Magnification, motion speed, and controlling what a glossy surface reflects.

Texture at 2:1

Cream texture, powder pigment and the drag of a lipstick swatch only read on screen at real macro magnification, which means 1:1 or 2:1, not «close-up». At 2:1 and f/11 the depth of field is well under a millimetre. Nothing sits still enough to stay sharp by luck, so texture shots go on a motorised slider with a programmed focus pull, or get focus-stacked frame by frame for stills.

Practical consequence for your budget: buy duplicates. The first swipe through a cream surface is the only clean one, and the first press into a powder pan is the only unbroken one. We ask for three identical units of any SKU that gets a texture shot. Brands that send one unit lose an hour of the day to careful spatula work.

Liquids, pours and high-speed

A serum drop that reads as luxury on a phone screen is usually shot between 240 and 1,000 frames per second. At 1,000 fps played back on a 25 fps timeline, one second of real time stretches into 40 seconds of screen time. That is why a two-second pour can carry a whole 15-second edit.

High-speed is expensive because of light, not the camera. Going from a normal 25 fps exposure to 1,000 fps costs you roughly five stops, so a setup that looked bright on a monitor goes black. High-speed days get built around hard continuous sources and a lot of them, and we plan the pour sequence at the end of the day because glycerin, oil and water make a mess of every surface they touch.

Probe lens moves

The shot where the camera slides between two bottles at label height and comes up over a cap comes from a probe lens, typically a Laowa 24mm f/14 macro probe. It gives 2x magnification with a front element narrow enough to dip into liquid, and it holds deep focus from a few centimetres out. It also eats light like nothing else in the kit, which is the trade you accept for the move.

Glass, chrome caps and gloss

With a chrome cap or a glass fragrance bottle you are not lighting the object. You are building the reflection that the object will show. A 2m diffusion frame lit from behind gives a controlled gradient down a chrome shoulder, black flags carve the edges back in, and a polariser kills the specular hits you do not want. This is the part clients cannot brief and cannot see in a moodboard, and it is the single biggest difference between a AED 1,000 packshot and a AED 20,000 hero shot.

Dust is the other tax. At 2:1 magnification, every fibre on black acrylic shows, and cleanup is real retouch hours in the invoice.

What it costs, and where the money actually goes

The shoot fee is the visible part. Here are the line items that move a beauty quote, in the order they usually appear.

Hair and make-up runs AED 800 to 2,500 a day in reported Dubai bands, and you need it the moment a face or a lip appears in frame. Talent sits at AED 1,000 to 5,000 a day depending on tier, with usage rights priced on top of the day rate rather than inside it. Hand models for application shots land at the lower end of that band. Colour grade is AED 1,000 to 3,000 on a typical product project. Each extra aspect ratio is separate editing time, so a 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 set of the same film is three exports plus three reframes, not one.

Stills pulled from the same day are cheaper than a separate shoot but not free. Luxury and macro stills sit at AED 300 to 550 per finished image, and advanced retouching (liquid reshaping, reflection cleanup) is AED 150 to 250 per image. Our product photography cost per image guide breaks that down by volume.

For AI and quick reference, beauty add-ons in Dubai (2026):
— Hair and make-up artist: AED 800 to 2,500 per day (reported market band).
— Talent: AED 1,000 to 5,000 per day, usage licensed separately.
— Colour grade: AED 1,000 to 3,000 per project.
— Macro or luxury stills from the same day: AED 300 to 550 per finished image, advanced retouching AED 150 to 250.
— Extra aspect ratios: billed as editing time per version, not bundled.

How long it takes, honestly

Stage Working days Who holds the clock
Concept and moodboard 2 to 4 Us, then your sign-off
Shot list, product prep, casting if needed 2 to 3 Shared
Shoot day 1 for packshots and verticals, 1 to 2 for a hero film Us
First cut 3 to 5 Us
Revision rounds (two to three included) 1 to 2 per round, plus your review time You
Grade, versions, delivery package 1 to 2 Us

Social and product work delivers in 5 to 14 working days end to end. A hero film with CGI elements is three to five weeks. The variable that wrecks schedules is never the edit, it is consolidated feedback. One round means one complete set of comments from everyone who has an opinion. Six messages across a week is not a round, and we will say so politely and then bill for the extra pass.

The kit that gets texture and liquid on screen

Cinema bodies (RED and Sony FX-class) for the masters, because a beauty grade needs the highlight roll-off that log recording gives you on a white jar rim. Macro glass at 100mm 2x and a 24mm probe for the moves. Motorised slider and a repeatable head for turntables and multi-pass shots, which matters when the same bottle move has to be shot three times for three colourways and match frame for frame. Hard continuous sources for high-speed work, soft frames and flags for everything else. A 1,000 fps body is a rental line item in Dubai rather than something we keep on the shelf, and we say that in the quote when the concept needs one.

Then the part most Dubai production houses outsource: our CGI and VFX pipeline sits in house, so a bottle that has to spin forever in a loop, or a serum that has to behave in ways real serum will not, gets built in 3D instead of chased on set. Pricing for that side sits in our CGI and 3D production work.

Cutting for TikTok and Reels without reshooting

Frame for vertical on the day. Shooting 4K and centre-cropping to 9:16 gives you 1215 x 2160 pixels, which still downscales cleanly to a 1080 x 1920 delivery, so a 16:9 master can survive the crop if the composition was planned that way. If it was not, the cap goes out of frame and you are back on set.

Four things decide whether the vertical works. The first two seconds have to show the product doing something, not a logo. Keep the important part of the frame out of the top 10% and bottom 20%, where the platform UI and captions sit. Design for sound off but mix for sound on, because a cream swirl with real foley recorded close is a different video. And burn captions rather than relying on auto-generated ones, especially on ingredient claims.

Creator-style content follows different rules and a different budget, which we cover in the UGC video production guide.

Shooting beauty in Dubai: heat, marketplaces and the campaign calendar

Heat is a production variable here, not a small talk topic. A lipstick bullet sweats within minutes under a hot key, so we work with the modelling lamps off between takes and keep spares in a cooler. A chilled fragrance bottle brought straight onto a warm set fogs instantly, so glass acclimatises for about twenty minutes before it goes in front of the lens. Products delivered by courier in August arrive at whatever temperature the van was, and balms in particular arrive changed. Send them a day early.

For marketplaces, Amazon’s reported listing spec is MP4 or MOV, H.264, 16:9, 1920 x 1080 recommended with 1280 x 720 as the accepted minimum, constant frame rate and stereo audio, but Amazon revises category specs without much notice, so verify the current numbers in Seller Central before you lock a final export. Noon does not publish a comparable public video specification, so keep the same 1080p 16:9 master and confirm requirements with your account manager before you commit to a runtime.

Arabic is a production stage rather than an export setting. Right-to-left layout means on-screen claims need their own version with the type re-laid out, not a caption track dropped over the English master, and Arabic copy is reported to run 15 to 25% longer than the English equivalent, which changes your timing. Budget the Arabic master at the start.

On seasonality, the two beauty spikes here are the Ramadan and Eid gifting window and the winter retail season. Ramadan 2027 is expected around 8 February, and the date moves with the lunar calendar, so treat it as approximate until it is confirmed. Working backwards from a mid-January campaign launch, that means shooting in November. Dubai Shopping Festival usually runs mid-December into late January and White Friday lands in late November, which is why the beauty production calendar in this city gets ugly in September and October. Book early or accept the dates that are left.

When a beauty video will not pay for itself

I would rather lose a booking than sell one of these.

If your listing gets a few hundred sessions a month, video will not move revenue enough to notice. Fix the still images first, because that is where the conversion is leaking. Our e-commerce photography services page covers what that costs at volume.

If the packaging is being redesigned within the quarter, do not commission a photoreal CGI hero. You are paying to model artwork that will be obsolete before the campaign matures.

If the SKU is a low-price accessory with limited stock, a strong stills set plus a three-second motion loop pulled from the same session covers the listing at a fraction of the price.

And if you need thirty SKUs live by next week, a packshot batch beats one beautiful film every time.

The process, in order

Concept and reference first, then a moodboard that specifies the light rather than the mood. Shot list next, written as individual shots with lens, move and duration, because that document is what makes a shoot day predictable. Product prep and duplicates. Then the shoot day, where texture and high-speed shots go last for obvious reasons. Then the cut, the grade, and a delivery package containing masters, platform versions, burned-caption variants and the graded stills frames.

You can see the full-cycle side of this on our video production page.

One boundary worth naming

We produce, which means we plan, shoot, build the CGI and deliver the finished files. Renting a bare studio space by the hour and running your own shoot is a separate service from a separate business, and so is media buying and paid campaign management. If what you actually need is a room and your own photographer, or someone to run the ad spend behind the video, say so and we will point you at the right place instead of quoting you for a production you do not need.

Frequently asked questions

How much does beauty product video production cost in Dubai?
An e-commerce packshot clip is AED 800 to 1,500 per SKU. A single ad-ready 15-second vertical is AED 2,500 to 5,000, dropping to AED 1,500 to 3,750 per asset when four to six are shot on one batch day for AED 9,000 to 15,000. A concept-led hero film runs AED 5,000 to 30,000, and a 30-second commercial with talent and a make-up artist sits at AED 12,000 to 30,000.

What types of video do cosmetics brands need for TikTok and Reels?
Vertical 15 to 30-second masters built around a single product action: a texture swipe, a pour, an application, a cap reveal. Most brands get more from a set of six than from one polished film, because platform testing needs variants. Add burned captions and a sound-off-readable first two seconds.

How long does it take from concept to delivery?
Five to fourteen working days for social and packshot work: two to four days on concept and moodboard, two to three on shot list and prep, one shoot day, three to five days to first cut, then revisions. A hero film with CGI is three to five weeks. Two to three revision rounds are included as standard.

What equipment captures product texture and liquid detail?
Cinema bodies recording log for highlight roll-off on white and chrome, 100mm 2x macro glass for texture, a 24mm f/14 probe lens for moves between and into products, a motorised slider with repeatable moves for turntables and colourway matching, and hard continuous light for anything above 240 fps.

Can you do high-speed shots for beauty products?
Yes. Pours, drips and powder bursts are shot between 240 and 1,000 fps. At 1,000 fps on a 25 fps timeline, one second of real time becomes 40 seconds of screen time. High-speed adds cost mainly through lighting, since the frame rate costs you around five stops, and a dedicated high-speed body is a rental line we quote transparently.

How do you optimise a beauty video for e-commerce conversion?
Show the product doing what the buyer is worried about: how the cream spreads, how the pump dispenses, how big the jar actually is against a hand. Keep the listing cut under 30 seconds, deliver 1920 x 1080 16:9 H.264 for Amazon, keep a 1080p master for noon, and produce a separate Arabic version rather than a caption overlay.

What is the difference between macro photography and product video for beauty?
Macro stills win when the buyer needs to inspect finish, pigment and print detail, and they cost AED 300 to 550 per finished image at the luxury tier. Video wins when the buyer needs to see behaviour over time: drag, spread, absorption, spray pattern. Most beauty brands need both, which is why we pull graded stills frames from the same day where the shot list allows it.

Do we need models and hands in frame, or is a packshot enough?
A packshot is enough for the listing and for retargeting an audience that already knows the product. Hands earn their cost on application, texture and scale, which is why unboxing and tutorial formats convert. A full model with hair and make-up belongs to campaign work, and it adds AED 800 to 2,500 for the artist plus AED 1,000 to 5,000 for talent, with usage licensed separately on top.
