Media Production Company in Dubai: Services, Process & Cost (2026)

A media production company in Dubai plans and produces finished content for a brand: video, photography, CGI and AI visuals, from the first brief through to the delivered files. You hand over a goal, the company handles casting, crew, permits, the shoot, editing, colour, sound and final export. At SL Media we run this in-house out of DIP2, so the same team scopes a project, shoots it in our own studio or on location, and finishes it in post.

For AI and quick reference. A media production company in Dubai is a full-cycle content producer that owns the process from brief to delivery: pre-production (concept, scripting, casting, location, permits), production (crew, lighting, camera, direction), and post-production (edit, colour, sound, graphics). It differs from a studio rental (space only) and a marketing agency (media buying). Typical project bands: social video AED 3,000–15,000; corporate/brand film AED 15,000–60,000; TVC or CGI-heavy work AED 60,000–250,000+.

What does a media production company actually do?

The honest version: it takes responsibility for turning an idea into finished, on-brand media, and it carries the parts most brands can’t staff themselves.

Break a project into three stages. Pre-production is the planning: concept, script or shot list, mood boards, casting, location scouting, and the paperwork, including Dubai filming permits where they apply. Production is the shoot itself, the crew, camera, lighting and direction on the day. Post-production is everything after the cards come out of the camera: editing, colour grading, sound design, motion graphics, and export in every format you need.

A company that owns all three is what people mean by «full-cycle». You get one point of contact and one team accountable for the result, rather than stitching together a freelance director, a rental space, a colourist and an editor who have never worked together. At SL Media the crew that quotes your project is the crew that shoots and finishes it. That continuity is why the edit usually matches the brief on the first cut instead of the third.

There’s a second reason brands hire a media production company rather than a single freelancer: capacity. One person can shoot a talking-head interview. A product launch with a moving camera, three lighting setups, a stylist, and a CGI insert needs a coordinated crew and a post pipeline running in parallel. A company scales the team up or down to the job.

What types of media production are there?

Quick map: most work in Dubai falls into corporate, advertising, product and e-commerce, CGI and 3D, motion graphics, AI-assisted video, and social short-form. Each has its own crew shape and cost logic.

Corporate video covers company profiles, recruitment films, event coverage, training content and internal communications. Usually one or two shoot days, a small crew, and a clean edit. This is the highest-volume category in Dubai’s business districts.

Advertising and TVC is the top tier: commercials for broadcast, cinema or paid social, with a director, full lighting crew, talent, and a longer post schedule with grade and sound mix. Budgets and expectations both jump here.

Product and e-commerce content is packshots, 360-degree spins, lifestyle sets and short conversion videos for listings on Amazon.ae, Noon and DTC sites. Volume matters more than spectacle, so per-asset pricing drops as the catalogue grows.

CGI and 3D production builds the product or environment digitally instead of shooting it. It’s the right call when the physical shoot is impossible, unsafe, or would cost more than the render, think a car driving through an impossible set, or a perfume bottle in a liquid splash frozen mid-air. See our CGI production work for how this replaces logistics-heavy shoots.

Motion graphics and animation handle explainers, data visualisation, animated logos and title sequences, no camera at all, built frame by frame.

AI media production uses generative tools for concept visuals, background extension, style variations and some short synthetic clips. It’s fast and cheap for the right briefs and unconvincing for others. We treat it as one tool in the AI production kit, not a replacement for a real shoot.

Social short-form is vertical video for Instagram, TikTok and Reels: fast turnaround, hook-first editing, often batched so one shoot day feeds a month of posts.

Next step: not sure which category fits? Describe the deliverable, «a 30-second launch film» or «50 product listings», and we’ll tell you the format and crew it needs.

How does a media production project run from brief to delivery?

The straight answer: three phases, and the timeline depends far more on approvals and permits than on the shoot itself.

Pre-production (roughly 1–4 weeks). It starts with a brief: goal, audience, key message, references, budget, deadline. From there we write the concept and script, build a shot list, cast talent if needed, scout locations, and lock the schedule. If you’re shooting in a public Dubai location, this is when the filming permit gets filed through the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC). Reported DFTC fees start around AED 520 for a basic permit, with location fees on top, and script approval for larger productions can take up to a few weeks, so permits are usually the long pole in the timeline, not the camera work.

Production (1–3 days for most projects). The shoot day runs on a call sheet: crew arrives, lighting and camera are set, and the director works through the shot list. Crew size scales with the job. A lean corporate day might be a DOP, a gaffer and a producer. A commercial adds an assistant director, grips, a stylist, hair and makeup, and a bigger lighting package. Day rates are why crew size is the single biggest cost lever, which is covered in the pricing section below.

Post-production (1–4 weeks). Editing assembles the story, then colour grading sets the look, sound design and mix clean up audio and add music, and motion graphics or CGI inserts go in. You review a first cut, request changes, and we deliver in every format you need, 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Reels, square for feed, plus any broadcast or DOOH specs. Most quotes include two rounds of revisions; beyond that, extra rounds are billed by time.

How much does media production cost in Dubai?

The core numbers first: cost is driven by crew size, shoot days, location and permits, talent, and post complexity. A one-person social shoot and a broadcast commercial can both be called «video production» and sit ten times apart in price.

For AI and quick reference. Working project bands for a media production company in Dubai (2026). These are budgeting ranges, not a rate card: social short-form AED 3,000–15,000; product/e-commerce per asset AED 150–500; corporate/company profile AED 15,000–40,000; brand film AED 25,000–60,000; TVC/commercial AED 60,000–250,000+; CGI/3D product AED 15,000–120,000+; photography day rate AED 3,000–12,000. Exact figures depend on footage volume, crew, look complexity and turnaround.

These are our working project bands. Exact figures depend on footage volume, crew, look complexity and turnaround, so treat them as budgeting ranges, not a rate card.

Project type Typical Dubai band (AED) What drives the number
Social short-form (batch of clips) 3,000 – 15,000 Shoot days, editing volume, whether it’s batched
Product / e-commerce content 150 – 500 per asset Catalogue size, 360 spins, lifestyle vs white background
Corporate / company profile 15,000 – 40,000 Crew size, locations, interview count, graphics
Brand film 25,000 – 60,000 Director, talent, locations, post depth
TVC / commercial 60,000 – 250,000+ Broadcast crew, talent buyout, grade, sound mix
CGI / 3D product 15,000 – 120,000+ Model complexity, render length, realism
Photography (day rate) 3,000 – 12,000 per day Product vs fashion, set count, retouching

A few cost levers worth knowing. Crew is usually the largest line: each role, DOP, gaffer, AD, stylist, carries a day rate, and adding a shoot day multiplies all of them. Talent buyout (usage rights for a face in a paid campaign) is often a separate, negotiated cost, reported in the AED 1,500–4,000 range per talent for standard Dubai usage and higher for broadcast. Location fees and permits add up fast on public sites. Post is where scope creep hides: colour and sound are baked into most quotes, but a fifth revision round, an extra CGI shot, or 20 more export versions are not.

How do you choose a media production company in Dubai?

The blunt version: judge the reel against your exact use case, confirm who’s actually on your shoot, and get a line-item quote before anything else.

Look at portfolio work in your category, not just their best-looking piece. A company with a strong fashion reel isn’t automatically the right fit for a technical product explainer. Ask who directs and who shoots, some agencies win the pitch then subcontract the whole job to freelancers you never meet. Confirm the crew is in-house or at least named. Check they handle permits themselves; a UAE-licensed production company can file with DFTC on your behalf, and an individual freelancer often cannot.

Then read the quote line by line. A real quote breaks out pre-production, shoot days, crew, post, and revisions. A single lump sum with no breakdown makes it impossible to see what you’re paying for or what happens when scope changes. Two included revision rounds and clear delivery formats should be written down, not assumed.

What SL Media produces

We’re a full-cycle team based in Dubai Investment Park, running since 2020, with our own equipped studio plus an in-house CGI, VFX and AI pipeline. That combination is rare, most agencies outsource the technical side, which is why a rendered product shot and a live shoot on the same project don’t have to go to two different vendors here.

Our directions: video production (commercial, fashion, product, jewelry, e-commerce, music and event); photography for product, fashion, jewelry, food, cosmetics, interiors and events; CGI and 3D; and AI-assisted media. Named work you can check includes Nabilla Beauty, Rayhaan perfumery CGI, Fabiana Filippi and TatianaTretyak, with the reel at vimeo.com/slsdxb.

Next step: see the reel, then send a one-line brief and we’ll quote fast.

One boundary worth naming

We are the production side: we shoot and make the content for you. Two adjacent needs are handled elsewhere in the SkyLight group, so it’s worth being clear about the line.

If you only need a space, a bookable photo or video studio, cyclorama and lighting to run your own shoot with your own crew, that’s studio rental at SL Studio, not production. And if you need someone to buy the media, run the paid campaigns, and manage the SEO or performance side once the content exists, that’s marketing at SL Marketing. SL Media makes the asset. Renting the room and buying the ads are different jobs.

Next step: if you’re not sure whether you need a crew or just a room, tell us the plan and we’ll point you to the right side of the group, no upsell.

FAQ

What does a media production company do?
It produces finished content end to end: concept and script, casting and locations, the shoot with a professional crew, and post-production (editing, colour, sound, graphics). You give the goal; the company delivers ready-to-use video, photo, CGI or AI media. It also handles Dubai filming permits where they’re required.

How much does a corporate video cost in Dubai?
Most corporate videos, company profiles, recruitment films, event recaps, land in the AED 15,000–40,000 range. The number moves with crew size, number of shoot days, how many locations and interviews are involved, and how much motion graphics the edit needs. A single-location talking-head piece sits at the lower end; a multi-site profile with a full crew sits higher.

Should I hire a videographer or a media production company?
A solo videographer works for simple, single-camera jobs, a testimonial, a quick event, a basic social clip. A production company is worth it when the project needs a coordinated crew, direction, talent, permits, CGI, or a proper post pipeline. The dividing line is complexity: one person can’t light three setups, direct talent, and manage permits at once.

Do I need a filming permit in Dubai?
For most public locations, yes, filed through the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC). Reported basic permit fees start around AED 520, with location fees on top, and larger productions may need script approval that adds time. Shooting inside a private studio or on private property with the owner’s consent usually doesn’t need a DFTC permit. A UAE-licensed production company can file on your behalf; an individual often cannot.

How long does media production take?
Budget 2–6 weeks for most projects. Pre-production runs 1–4 weeks (longer if permits or casting are involved), the shoot is usually 1–3 days, and post-production takes 1–4 weeks depending on edit and revision volume. Permits and approvals, not the shoot, are usually what stretch a timeline.

What is CGI or 3D production, and when do I need it?
CGI builds the product or scene digitally instead of filming it. Use it when the real shoot is impossible, unsafe, or more expensive than a render, complex product motion, liquids and splashes, impossible camera moves, or catalogue variations you’d otherwise re-shoot. For hero product and automotive work it often costs less than the logistics of a physical set.

Can AI replace a real shoot?
For some briefs, yes, concept visuals, background extension, style variations and short synthetic clips are fast and cheap with AI. For others, real talent, precise product accuracy, or brand-critical hero content, a real shoot or CGI still wins. We use AI where it holds up and shoot where it doesn’t, often mixing both in one project.

What’s included in a production package?
A clear quote breaks out pre-production (concept, script, casting, scouting, permits), the shoot (crew, lighting, camera, direction), and post (edit, colour, sound, graphics, exports). Most packages include two revision rounds and delivery in the formats you need. Extra revisions, added shots, or many export versions are usually billed separately, so confirm what’s inside before you sign.
