Most Dubai photographers publish a price and nothing else. The number that matters is what arrives in your inbox afterwards.
A normal individual session produces 30 to 50 usable frames on the card. You review them as a contact sheet, pick three to five, and those are retouched to finish. Everything else stays unretouched, and some suppliers delete it after 30 days. Ask before you book, because «we shot 200 photos» is a sales line, not a deliverable.
Retouching is where quotes stop being comparable. Three levels exist in practice, and they are priced very differently.

The headshot changes with the job you do
One lighting setup does not serve every brief, and the difference shows up in the first ten seconds of a viewer’s attention.
A corporate director needs a portrait that survives being cropped into a circle at 400 pixels and printed at 300 dpi in the same week. Neutral or graduated background, controlled contrast, jacket on, shoulders angled about 30 degrees off the lens. Nothing in the frame should date the picture within three years, which rules out trend-heavy colour backdrops.
A startup founder is usually raising money or hiring. Environmental frames work better here: the person in their actual space, shallow depth of field, a hint of the product on the desk behind them. Investors read confidence in posture, not in a studio backdrop. Book 45 minutes rather than 20, because two or three set-ups in one session gives the deck, the press kit and the profile picture from one visit.
Creatives and consultants are selling a personality. More expression, more movement, sometimes a wider crop that shows the hands. This is the only category where I would encourage a colour background, and the only one where an outdoor frame in Dubai light is worth the logistics.

Studio, office or outdoors: what Dubai does to a face
The city has three specific problems that headshot photographers in cooler climates never plan for.
Heat and humidity. Between May and September, a subject who walks 200 metres from a car park arrives with visible shine and a wilted collar. Powder and blotting sheets at the queue fix in ten seconds what costs retouching hours later. It is the single cheapest thing you can put on a shoot list.
Outdoor light. Midday sun here is close to overhead and brutally hard, and rooftop temperatures in July run 42 to 45 degrees. Usable outdoor windows are the first hour after sunrise, roughly 06:00 to 07:30 in summer, and the last hour before sunset. Outside those windows we bring our own key light and treat the sun as a background element rather than a light source.
Room and colour are what make or break an office headshot. A typical Dubai fit-out mixes 3000K downlights, 4000K ceiling panels and daylight through tinted glazing that pushes green or blue, and skin tone drifts fast under that mix; we overpower it with strobe and a shutter speed that kills the ambient light entirely, so the face reads one colour temperature instead of four. On space, the floor needs roughly 4 metres of depth by 3 metres of width, the subject 1.5 to 2 metres off the wall, the camera 2 to 2.5 metres back on an 85mm to 135mm equivalent, and enough headroom under a typical 2.4 to 2.7 metre Dubai ceiling for the key light to clear the frame. Run the day’s arithmetic before you promise anything to HR. A four-hour block is 240 minutes, minus about 45 for setup and 20 for teardown, which leaves roughly 175 minutes in front of the camera. At six minutes a head that is 29 people. At ten minutes it is 18. A full day gives around 355 shooting minutes, so 40 to 60 people at the fast pace. Past roughly 60 people in one day, we split across two dates or add a second photographer with a duplicate lighting setup, because a single queue that long stops being a shoot and becomes a waiting room.

How fast the files land
The proof gallery goes out 2 to 3 working days after the shoot, culled and unretouched, with each person’s frames grouped under their name. Retouched files follow 3 to 7 working days after you approve selects. Rush delivery inside 24 to 48 hours is possible at a premium, and it holds only if one named person can approve selects the same day.
Ask for the crops you will actually use. LinkedIn accepts a minimum of 400 by 400 pixels and up to 8 MB, with 800 by 800 recommended for high-resolution screens, and it crops to a circle without asking, so we leave about 10 percent margin around the head. Add 4:5 vertical for the website team page, full resolution at 300 dpi for print, and filenames as firstname-lastname so IT can bulk-import 60 files without renaming them by hand. One revision round on the retouched set is standard and included.
