What a personal shoot includes
Three different jobs hide under the same words, and they need different sessions:
- A headshot. One clean frame of your face for LinkedIn, a company page, a broker profile or a licence application. Short session, tight crop, neutral background, nothing in the picture competing with you.
- A personal branding set. A hero portrait plus working frames: you mid-conversation, at a desk, holding the product, walking through a space. Each moment is shot vertical and horizontal, so one session feeds a website header and an Instagram story without cropping your head off.
- Portfolio and lifestyle. Editorial looks, fashion-style portraits, images for a casting profile or a personal project where the point is the picture rather than the profile.
Files come back retouched and cropped for where they are going: square for profile pictures, 4:5 for feed, 9:16 for stories, wide for a site banner.
How the session runs
- A call before the shoot. What the images are for, where they get published, and what you want someone to conclude in the second they look at you. That conversation decides wardrobe and background. The camera settings are the easy part.
- Wardrobe plan. Outfits picked in advance and brought on hangers rather than in a bag. Solid colours hold up better than busy prints, and a jacket that fits your shoulders does more for a portrait than any retouching.
- The session. The photographer directs posture, chin, hands and weight, so no prior experience is required. We shoot tethered, which means you see the frames on a monitor between setups and can adjust while the light is still standing.
- Selection. You choose the frames that go to retouch.
- Retouch. Skin stays skin. We remove the spot that will be gone next week and leave the face you actually have, because a portrait that does not match the person walking into the meeting costs you more than it saves.
- Delivery. Final files in the crops agreed at the brief.
Who books this
Founders and executives who need one portrait that works everywhere. Consultants and coaches whose face is the product. Real estate brokers in Dubai, where the same headshot sits on every listing and every portal profile. Doctors, lawyers and clinic teams. Actors and models building a comp card. Creators who need a month of content in a single afternoon. Companies photographing a whole team to one standard instead of collecting fifteen different phone crops.
Why SL Media
Our studio is in Dubai Investment Park 2, so the light is controlled and the schedule does not depend on the weather or on the sun sitting in the wrong place at 4pm. When the brief calls for a real environment, we shoot on location: an office, a café, a rooftop, an apartment.
The same crew directs, shoots and retouches, and video runs off the same session when you need vertical clips alongside the stills. That is the practical difference between hiring a photographer for an hour and booking a production. Work samples are at vimeo.com/slsdxb.
